Take Advantage of Patent Services/Patent Agents
Have you been trying to come up with a great idea that could possibly make you millions of dollars but have had no luck? Or are you sitting on a great idea but simply don’t have the resources available to put it together and present it to the right people? It may seem that when you have great ideas and no real resources your invention destiny may not be fulfilled. But you’ll be happy to know that there are patent services/patent agents available who can not only help you cultivate your ideas and get them patented, but also offer some great ideas if you don’t have them.
What Are Patent Services/Patent Agents?
They are companies or individuals that set out to assist people who are interested in either acquiring an interesting idea to turn into an invention, or simply want to cultivate their invention and have it patented. There are some services available that will refer you to the most reputable attorneys in the field, and there are others that will actually get out there and do the work for you to get your idea patented. The service you choose will depend largely upon your needs, as well as what stage in the process you find yourself.
Why Not Just Do it Myself?
It is possible for you to go through the steps of patenting the idea yourself. And some may even recommend that you find your own attorney and do so, especially if you’re truly interested in being an inventor. But the patent application process can be time consuming, difficult, and complicated. Say for instance you work a full-time job and one day have an idea that you simply can’t ignore. You’ve never thought of inventing anything and are much more focused on your nine-to-five job. Most likely, you have no idea where to start and don’t have the time to invest in figuring it out or the money to hire an attorney before you even know whether your idea is patentable. In this case, patent services/patent agents are a great choice for you.
They may be able to put your idea in front of the right attorneys who can give you a “good faith review,” which will let you know if it is truly patentable or needs to head back to the drawing board. Others can provide searching services, along with help drafting the application, producing the drawings, and even filing or prosecuting applications with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
The process can become pretty tedious when you’re trying to figure it all out by yourself, which is why many inventors prefer to have “connected” help along the way.
But before you settle with one of the many patent services/patent agents available, you should research multiple resources to see which ones offer the service you most need.
